Much like human beings, the artificial intelligence used by PlantIDMatch relies on visuals to identify the photographed plant (colors, leaf shapes, possible flowers, etc.). Identification results below 30% are considered low. A high percentage does not necessarily mean that the identification is without error, but means that the plant shares many similarities with one of the 12,500 plants in the database.
